SHC RN Residency Program
at Stanford Hospital & Clinics
SHC RN Residency Starting Fall 2010:
Consider accelerating your nursing career at a world-renowned medical institution in our one year New Graduate RN Nurse Resident Program. After the conclusion of the 9-12 week clinical orientation program, residents will continue to receive mentoring and continuing education support bi-monthly from our SHC nurse educators, CNS et al. The program is based on a partnership with the University Health System – Consortium (UHC) and ACCN. Our comprehensive program combines didactic information, supervised clinical practice, and competency-based training to meet the multiple needs of Stanford’s many units, as well as to encourage the development of evidence-based practice and critical thinking.
SHC New Graduate RN Residency Program Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate from a BSN or master’s level entry into practice program, accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), within 9 months prior to the Program’s start date.
- Graduates of online or distance nursing programs are not accepted.
- Must have no paid RN work experience prior to Program’s start date.
- Must have a current California RN license required by Program’s start date.
- Must have a BLS-HCP level certification issued by the American Heart Association required by the Program’s start date.
- Must submit ALL additional documentation for the SHC New Graduate RN Residency Program.
- Completed application.
- 3 clinical instructor reference letters (on letterhead).
- Resume to include a "clinical hours and placement format" of your rotations and senior preceptorship.
- Most recent unofficial transcripts.
- Willing to commit to the one-year Residency Program.
